Chevrolet Offers Quicker Charging Time for the Chevrolet Volt
For many people, one big downside to owning an electric or hybrid electric car is the charging time. Unlike refilling your gas tank, which takes minutes, recharging the battery fully can take hours. However, if you buy a 2019 Chevrolet Volt, you will be able to get back on the road fully charged a lot faster than before.
Chevrolet has announced reduced charging time for the Chevrolet Volt thanks to a newly available 7.2 kW charging system on the 2019 model. With this charging system in place, it adds about two times the all-electric driving range per hour of charge.
“With about twice the range added during 240V Level 2 charging sessions, the 2019 Volt’s 7.2 kW system makes opportunity charging more worthwhile,” said Jesse Ortega, chief engineer, Chevrolet Electric Vehicles. “It effectively extends the vehicle’s all-electric driving range, while providing about twice the range for the money when plugging in at public facilities that charge by the hour.”
This is great for drivers who like to plug in wherever they can to maximize their electric driving range. It will enable the 2019 Volt to reach a full charge in as little as 2.3 hours when using a 240-volt outlet. This hardware comes standard on the Premier model and is available on the LT trim.
